EDUCATION:
BWE degree in Welding Engineering, Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. Post-graduate courses completed in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, and Business Management.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCE:
Welding, Metals Cutting, and Metallurgical Engineering consultant to industry with emphasis on production solutions for all materials forming, hot working, and metals joining processes. Long-range marketing analyses and strategic planning for the golf, welding and welding robotics industries. Qualified as an Expert Witness in failure analysis for iron base, high temperature, aluminum, copper, and corrosion-resistant alloys. Also qualified as an expert in welding and cutting-related fire cases. Registered as a Professional Metallurgical Engineer in California and Ohio.

INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE:
Eleven years managing welding, brazing, castings, forgings and metal finishing development, specification preparation, drawing approval, manufacturing controls, failure analysis and reporting functions (Materials and Processes Engineering Laboratories, North American Rockwell). Fours years of field service and training clients in weld design, applications engineering, and process controls (The Lincoln Electric Company). Two years as Manager of Marketing and Product Development of electronic controls for the welding industry (Data Science Corporation). Six years as Owner-Manager of Shira Welding Supply, providing products and technical services to clients in the San Diego area.

Four years as Co-Founder, financier, and Chairman of Advanced Robotics Corporation. Fourteen years as an independent welding and metallurgical engineering consultant. Fourteen years as Chairman and Director of R&D for Carbite Golf, manufacturer of high-performance golf products. Consultant to golf club manufacturers, general fabrication industries, pressure vessel manufacturers, mining industry, agricultural equipment manufacturers, welding equipment manufacturers and others.

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
Graduated with honors in Welding Engineering. Elected to Tau Beta Pi, engineering academic honorary. Received Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1982 from Ohio State University. Former Chairman of Jacksonville, Florida chapter of ASM. Chairman of Rockwell Corporate Joining Panel, 1966-1968. Chairman of OSU Welding Engineering Alumni Organization, 1975. Past member of WRC High-Temperature Alloys Committee. Past member of AWS Handbook Committee, Volume 4. Co-author of WRC interpretive report "Welding of Precipitation Hardening Nickel Base Alloys."

Owner of 21 patents and patents pending describing welding, brazing and golf products. Published numerous technical articles in trade journals and government-funded internal reports. Taught university-level courses at Ohio State, Pierce College, and UCLA. Member AWS, ASM, APMI, USGA and GMDA. Founding board member, member of executive committee, chairman of finance committee and consultant to the Edison Welding Institute, Columbus, Ohio.
