Margaret (Albert) Summers or "Maggie" as known to some, has always loved books, and as a child she would read for hours, losing herself in the adventures, stories and illustrations, which have inspired many of her own works of art.

Drawing has always been a part of Margaret's life, from her earliest childhood memories, she never went anywhere without a drawing pad and pencil, and would sit for hours creating drawings from her imagination while also imitating the illustrations from some of her favorite books. Illustrators who have influenced her works have been Garth Williams, Maurice Sendak, and Louis Darling, just to name a few.

After high school, Margaret studied Advertising and Commercial Design in Michigan and was awarded the Joseph Burke Memorial Award for Excellence in Advertising Design. She continued her studies at Kent State University in Ohio, in Graphic Design and Illustration and received the "Mark of Excellence" for brochure design.

Margaret then took as many opportunites and projects that came her way and became a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. Over the course of her career as an artist, more work fell into the line of graphic design, but she always felt that something was missing. After picking up one of her own son's children's books and reading it, she was inspired to illustrate a line in the book, which inspired her to illustrate "Witches Day Out". Feeling something had finally filled the void she had felt for so long, she set off on a course to focus on children's illustration, which had been a life long desire, from the time she illustrated her first children's alphabet book as a young girl.

Margaret has provided commissioned works for businesses and private clientele. Many of her works are collected and housed in private collections across the United States and Canada.
