4. Identifying
Fools
Notire Basura once came upon two monks who were angrily scowling at
one another and shouting "fool! fool!"
Pausing for a moment, one of the monks approached Notire, and bowing
politely, asked ,
"Venerable sir, by what criteria should one identify a fool?"
"Only a fool should identify a fool," Notire said. "All others should
respect his folly as a form of wisdom not yet revealed."
The monk bowed politely and departed.
