It is written that on one occastion Notire Basura came upon a monk seated
zazen on a flat stone in the forest. Approaching, Notire peered deeply
into the monk's eyes and clearly saw the back of his head.
"Aha !" Said Notire. "I perceive that you have fully achieved the state
of No-mind, no thought." In reply, the monk drooled and mumbled.
Enlightened, Notire Basure passed by.
"The
