14. A Flower Grows

While passing through the village of Ghas in Baluchign on his way to the East, Notire Basura happened upon a cave wherein a monk had sat zazen for forty years holding an egg at arms-length.

"Why are you holding the egg thus?" Notire inquired.

"I am preserving the world ," the monk replied. " if I drop the egg, the world will be destroyed."

Notire took the egg from the monk's hand and immeditately ate it, saying, " I will drop the egg where it will help a flower grow."

The monk, relieved of his burden, was enlightened.

"The Sayings of Notire Basura" is a work in progress.  As Notire provides inspiration so
will his words will be written here.
