1) Start by placing the cursor at the left side of the text
2) Hold the LEFT mouse button down
3) While depressing the mouse button, move the cursor to the right
4) As the cursor moves, the text is highlighted showing that it is 'selected'
5) When the desired text is selected, release the mouse button
