April 1, 2007 - No Foolin'

It's been busy around here. Between my graphic arts business and life I have been really busy. I have spent over 80 hours over the last two months working for one commercial client alone. Spent a weekend rebuilding the front suspension on my car, trying to get the weeds under control.. the dogs.. the wife.. the house.. fit in a few bicycle rides.... well, you get the idea. By the time all that is done, and I spent all the profitable time on the keyboard, it is hard to get very motivated to do more computer work to keep this whatever-it-is going.
Well, I do have a new Concow Computer Chronicle article up for April that you should find useful, and have a few things for an article in May already. That's something. In the meantime, be careful if in the out of doors in our community. In the 18 years I have lived up here I have never seen so much poison oak, and it is looking very healthy. Stay on the trails and do the same for the pets if you can. if they wander outside use caution after touching them- wash your hands thoroughly before touching anything else. be particularly careful around the dogs' feet. They walk on it, and it gets onto their claws. If you brush your skin against a claw (like when they are laying on a raised surface and you walk by with shorts on), the scratch puts the oil into the skin and it works quite effectively that way.
Speaking of growing well, the late rains and warm weather have all sorts of things coming up. Work now to limit the amount of flashy fuels around your home and keep areas like gutters and under the deck clear of flammable materials (leaves, etc.). All signs seem to point to a high fire danger this summer. If you have brush to cut, remember that there is a FREE program through the Butte County Fire Safe council where they can send a chipper and crew to come to your property and they chip the brush for free! Call 877-0984 for more information.
Someone has evidently been stealing mail from mailboxes along Pinkston Canyon Road. if you notice anyone walking along that roadway and you get suspicious, please report it to the Oroville Postmaster. They may be a reward if you have information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone tampering with the US mail.

The online edition of the FRCN is presented to you free of charge. Still, there are production costs involved.
