Water plants that the rain can not reach. Clean, sharpen and store garden tools. Prune non- flowering trees and shrubs while they are dormant. Plant the last of the bulbs; amaryllis, anemones, callas, and ranunculus. Feed shrubs and trees that bloom in January and February. Prune conifers and evergreens to shape them. Prune fruit trees and vines. Apply dormant spray this month and next when fruit tree have lost their leaves. Put in perennial transplants like artichokes and asparagus and transplants of broccoli, cauliflower, and leaf lettuce.
