Cool season annuals do great. Plant spring bulbs and sweet peas. Reseed lawn or over-seed. Add leaves and nitrogen to compost pile and cover with plastic tarp when rain begins. Continue to clean-up summer vegetable garden. Sow or transplant cool weather crops. Plant shrubs and groundcovers. Feed over-wintering plants with low-nitrogen fertilizer to help them become cold-hardy. Move succulents and cactus indoors or under shelter for frost protection and water sparingly until spring.
