"I Do..."
by Marla Houghton

It was a bright and blue morning sky on May 22, 1623. it was the day of John and Priscilla's wedding. They were getting married in a small white church, and everyone was invited.

Priscilla came to the church riding on a white cow. There was not a single spot on it. John was leading the cow by a rope.

Finally, the bride walked down the aisle. She wore a white wedding dress, as white as a dove. John wore a brown suit that was as brown as a brown bear.

"Ho! ... look at that pretty girl!" Gilbert Winslow (Edward Winslow's younger brother) said.

"I just wish her parents were here to see this," mumbled Peter Browne.

Dom! Dom! dom-dom! Dom! Dom! dom-dom! Then she was there and William Brewster began the marriage ceremony.

"John, do you take Priscilla to be your lovely wedded wife?" William asked John. "For richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health?"

"I ... do," John answered.

"Priscilla, do you take John to be your lovely wedded husband? In sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer?"

"I ... do," Priscilla said.

"Rings!" William said. "John, place this ring on Priscilla's finger and say you love her."

"Priscilla, I love you," John told her.

"Priscilla, place this ring on John's finger and say you love her," William said.

"I love you," Priscilla said. But then she stopped because suddenly the two white doors flew open. Myles Standish walked in! Everyone looked at him, wondering if he was going to kill John Alden. He had a sword in his hand, and he looked mad.

"What are you doing here, Myles?" Suzanna White yelled

"John!" Myles roared. Myles ran down to where John and Priscilla were standing. He lifted his hands up and gave John a big hug!

"I'm not mad at you any more!" he exclaimed. "I had a fight with some Natives, but that's about it. Now on with the wedding!"

"Okay, thank you," John mumbled and from that day on John and Myles never fought again.
