To Choose or Not to Choose .... that is the Question!
by Conor DoddThe Separatists' first job was to find a seaworthy ship that could carry them across the Atlantic Ocean to the New World. So they went to the docks. It was a warm, sunny day.
"HELP!" said Francis Cooke, as he dived under a crane. "Those gulls are loaded! Everybody dive!" He was cut off by the people shouting.
"Hey! Let's do the Godspeed!" shouted Elias Story.
"No! The Isis looks good!" retorted John Howland.
"I want the Mayflower!" said Thomas Tinker
"Please, let's agree on something!" said John Carver.
"And how are we going to do that?" snapped John Billington.
After many hours of discussion, they finally agreed on the Mayflower , for three reasons. One: they could afford it. Two: It had great superstructure. Three: It was the biggest one there.
The Mayflower had four decks: the forecastle, the upper deck, the quarter deck, and the poop deck. It had a hold, a galley, and just below deck was the crew's quarters (where the crew slept) and the main quarters (where the Separatists slept).
They sent their decision to the businessmen. When the reply came, it said, "Okay. Everything is arranged. Have a good trip."
