The Putt Putt Maru, was the personal mount of Colonel Chuck MacDonald, CO, 475th FG, United States Army Airforces, Pacific Theatre of Operations. There were five Putt Putt Maru's. The first was a P-47 and the others were all P-38s. The one shown here is a P-38 L5, which is the same model aircraft I flew. The L Model is easily destinguishable by the built in landing light in the left wing .
General Robbins was once my instructor at Santa Rosa. One of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in my life, and a hell of a poker player...also, a pool shark extrordinaire !!!. The General has now passed on to the Big Ready Room upstairs
Colonel MacDonald was the top scoring P-38 pilot to survive the war.
