Why Write Fanfiction?

Writing fanfiction is an easy way to get started in a project. Most of the worldbuilding has already been done, so you can jump immediately into the story. If the story is good enough, you can always go back through later and create your own characters and locations to remove all the copyrighted references if you wish. For the most part, I treated them as warmup projects for other things.
