THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR

VARIOUS EVENTS

We had a number of events during the remainder of 2009 including a trip to San Francisco to see "Wicked" and later to see the "King Tut" exhibit. In September we went to a fashion show luncheon put on by "Sparkles" at Casa Garden Restaurant - some of our members were models! In December, we collected money for donations to "Gifts from the Heart". The picture below is what our money bought. Boy did we ever make some kids happy! We ended our year with our Christmas Dinner at Lion's Gate Hotel and Dining and our ever popular "Right/Left" gift exchange.

Now on to 2010 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

JULY

CARMICHAEL JULY 4TH PARADE

We marched as an award winning women's basketball team - the theme was something like "Noteable Events" and the Grand Marshall was Ruthie Bolton of the Sacramento Monarchs. How could we lose? YIPPEE...YAHOO!! We were back on top - FIRST PLACE (in our division)..of the Carmichael Elk's Parade! We were awesome! Special thanks to Betty for stepping up to put stuff together..with some help from Arlene. And of course, Sheryl.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL  JULY 9TH, 2006 6PM

We met at Leatherby's for ice cream wearing our finest shorts and hats to match. No better way to beat the heat!

STRAUSS FESTIVAL  JULY 23TH, 2006

We sat on the lawn ate dinner and drank wine while listening to a live orchestra play Strauss waltzes and polkas and watched the dancers. A beautiful evening!

RIVER CATS GAME  *   JUNE 11TH, 6:00 PM

WE WATCHED A BALL GAME,LISTENED TO JIMMY BUFFET MUSIC PRESENTED BY MICHAEL SEA & ISLAND FEVER, & DONATED TO STANFORD HOME FOR CHILDREN - ALL ON THE SAME NIGHT!!!!!

FAIR OAKS THEATRE FESTIVAL OPENING NIGHT GALA  *   FRIDAY JUNE 19TH, 6:00 PM

THE SHOW WAS "SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER". ELLEN WAS BE OUT OF TOWN THAT WEEK AND WAS SORRY SHE MISSED ONE OF HER FAVORITE EVENTS

SACRAMENTO JAZZ JUBILEE PARADE  *   FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2009

Always a blast to march in our best bathing suit attire complete with beads, parasols and feathers.

APRIL

JACKSON'S MOTHER LODE HOT DIXIELAND JAZZ PARTY  *   SUNDAY, APRIL 26TH, 2009

Another great event. We car pooled to Jackson. There were eleven Jazz Bands at 6 venues including Gospel singer Pat Yankee, 10th Avenue Jazz Band, Catsnjammer, Midnite Rose and more.

LITTLE SKIPPERS ANNUAL SPRING LUNCHEON & FASHION SHOW "TIME AND AGAIN"  *   SATURDAY, APRIL 25th, 2009

What Fun!!!
Music by: The ENCORE'S, a Sweet Adeline group; Luncheon: Catered by "HOWE ITS DONE"; Fashion show:, clothing provided by Gottschalks; paddle drawings for goodie baskets; Linkey emceed the fashion show and a coule of Divas modeled. Great day at the Sacramento Yacht Club.

WICKED SAN FRANCISCO ORPHEUM THEATER  *   APRIL 18, 2009

A bus trip to San Francisco for the Saturday matinee of "WICKED" - the story about the two witches of Qz before Dorothy. Then a trip to PIER 39 after the show.

MARCH

TEA TIME WITH STRAUSS  *   MARCH 14TH 2009

Vickie Wright organized this fun outing. We had tea complete with finger sandwiches, scones and fruit. Entertainment included a preview of Franklin High School's production of "Alice in Wonderland" and the Strauss dancers performing a waltz.

The event was well attended by many in the community, including our congressman, Dan Lungren, and his wife. All proceeds benefited the Strauss Festival of Elk Grove

BUNCO MADNESS  *   MARCH 14, 2009

Lunch and bunco at the Carmichael Elks Lodge. A fun attempt to make it into the “GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS” Put on by The Red Hat Honeys.

"Bunco was a hoot with about 200 ladies, well organized. One of our Divas, Jan Mills shared the most wins with 3 other ladies. I was so happy for her." Zaz

Good food and lots of fun! Happy Birthday to us! It has been a glorious 9 years.
