This site is dedicated to my father, Wilford Smith
who helped raise me, taught me right from wrong,
and helped start my quest for lifelong learning.

Wil Smith

Wilford Eugene Smith, a graduate of Purdue University (Mechanical Engineering, 1950). Among other things, Wil helped:

  • Airlift materials into Berlin immediately after World War II.
  • Design and develop:
    • the first U.S. spy satellite/Discoverer
    • the tiles for the Space Shuttle, and
    • the aiming mechanism for the Hubble Space Telescope
